The dispute between the Indian government and Twitter does not seem to have calmed down. Twitter has banned some accounts under the direction of the Government of India, but the IT ministry has explicitly said to remove 257 Twitter handles. The Government of India has summoned Twitter officials and asked many questions. It is being told that the government had asked Twitter to remove 1178 handles. However, today, Twitter said that more than 500 have been suspended.

The Government of India has summoned Twitter officials and asked many questions. It is being told that the government had asked Twitter to remove 1178 handles. However, today, Twitter reported that more than 500 have been suspended.

The microblogging site said in a blog post on Wednesday that the Twitter handle of civil society activists, politicians and media has not been blocked because doing so would violate the basic right to freedom of expression.
At the same time, on behalf of the government, Twitter has been told that we respect the right to freedom of expression and criticism, but in the name of freedom of expression, abuse of words and hashtags of genocide against the government cannot be allowed.
It is worth noting that some time ago the Government of India had asked Twitter to remove some accounts, which were related to the peasant movement, as well as the pro-Khalistani pro-hashtag. These accounts were removed by Twitter, although they were resumed after some time. On which resentment was expressed on behalf of the Government of India.
