Efforts made from the country of Ireland in Europe to Mumbai and then Dhule in India saved the life of a young man. This young man intended to do suicide live streaming on Facebook.
The Facebook headquarters in Ireland informed the Mumbai Police that 23-year-old Dnyaneshwar Patil was going to commit suicide as well as live streaming on Facebook. Within 50 minutes of receiving this information, the police team reached Patil’s house and rescued him. Patil has been admitted to the hospital, where he is now safe and is recuperating.
At 8.10 pm on Sunday night, Mumbai Cyber Police DCP Rashmi Karandikar received a call from the Facebook headquarters in Ireland that a youth was going to commit suicide and was streaming it on Facebook. The Facebook headquarters also shared screenshots. Patil was crying badly and he had a razor on his neck.
Mumbai cyber police officers took the matter very seriously and started searching for the young man’s location. The entire cyber team started gathering information about Patil. Within 20 minutes, the team got Patil’s pin-point location.
DCP Rashmi Karandikar said that the pin point location was a very important and difficult task. We got this location within 10 minutes. We had the name of Dhule’s building and the young man. We immediately informed the senior police officers of Dhule at 8.30 pm.
Dhule officials reached Patil’s house at 9 pm and rescued him. At that time, blood was coming out of Patil’s neck, he was immediately rescued and taken to hospital where his condition is now out of danger.
One officer said that it was all like running against time. He started sanding his throat with a razor. So we had to reach it as soon as possible. Facebook has the best team to work on such cases. He immediately informed the Mumbai Police as soon as he saw it in the algorithm.
